All Souls’ Day
In keeping with our desire to remember our loved ones on All Souls' Day, the special day the Catholic Church has set aside as a time of remembrance, we will be placing blessed candles at the gravesites of our deceased for that day.
This year the candles will be blessed at a special ceremony at 9 am on November 1 at the mausoleum. This year All Souls' Day falls on Saturday, November 2, because of this we will be placing candles in honor of All Souls' Day throughout Calvary on Friday, November 1. The candles will then be placed at the graves by the cemetery staff. In response to numerous requests, friends and families are invited to attend the blessing ceremony.
The candles will be in clear glass containers, marked with the names of the deceased. Candles to be installed in memory of those who are buried elsewhere will be placed at the Garden of St. Francis. For those at the mausoleum, the candles will be placed along the walks with a label attached to designate the person being remembered. The candles are designed to remain lit for approximately 72 hours, weather permitting.
Please Note: This is the only time when candles are allowed in the cemetery.
If you wish to participate in the Remembrance Candle program, please complete the form below and send it to the cemetery office. Cost is $10.25 per candle requested.
